Dr. Alaaeldin Bashier is currently a consultant Endocrinologist at Dubai Hospital, he is a fellow of Royal college of physicians and the American college of endocrinology (FRCP, FACE). He is very active in under and postgraduate teaching and has a master degree in medical professional health education MSc (MHPE) as well as a master degree in diabetes from Cardiff university. He is certified by the American college of Endocrinology in thyroid and neck USS (ECNU). He shared in establishing the Sudanese Diabetes Association the Gulf Chapter in 2014 and is the current president of the chapter. Dr. Tareq Qassem

Professor Tareq Qassem is a psychiatrist and academic recognized for his expertise in old age psychiatry. He currently serves as Lead for the Mental Health of Older Age Clinical Academic Group at Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital in Dubai, UAE, as part of the Maudsley Health team. He is an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at Mohammed Bin Rashid University in Dubai. Additionally, he serves as a Consultant Psychiatrist and is an Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust in the UK. Professor Qassem completed his medical training at Ain Shams University in Egypt, earning an MBBCh, MSc in Psychiatry and Neurology, MD in Addiction Psychiatry. He later underwent higher training in old age psychiatry in the UK, attaining his CCT and FRCPsych qualifications. With over 15 years of clinical experience, Professor Qassem has honed his expertise through managing neurocognitive clinics and overseeing comprehensive psychiatric services catering to older adults. He has spearheaded initiatives to establish the first service for mental health for the elderly in the UAE. Professor Qassem has significantly expanded academic discourse on psychiatry through his influential publications in reputable journals including The British Journal of Psychiatry and The BMJ. Professor Qassem holds an Adjunct Professorship at Mohammed Bin Rashid University in Dubai. He has previously served as a Senior Lecturer at UK universities including the University of Warwick and Aston University. Professor Qassem has made significant contributions to education and training for mental health professionals through the development of innovative curricula and courses, including creating the first multidisciplinary Master's degree program focused on addiction clinical practice in the Arab world, hosted jointly by Dubai Medical College and Erada Center; co-developing the Arab Fellowship in Old Age Psychiatry, a post-Arab Board subspecialty qualification; designing and implementing training courses on safeguarding best practices for frontline social sector practitioners in Abu Dhabi; and developing and delivering professional training programs to upskill staff and enhance the expertise of primary care providers in mental healthcare across the UAE. For his contributions, Professor Qassem has been conferred honors such as Fellowship of the UK Royal College of Psychiatrists, the UAE Innovates Award for AI-based dementia detection, and got the Older Adults Service the American College for Health Executives Gold Award for Leadership in specialized mental healthcare in 2022.

His professional career began in the United Kingdom, including its National Health Service (NHS), where he received extensive training in clinical psychology and applied research. Following more than a decade of practice in the UK, he transitioned to the Middle East, where he has dedicated himself to support the growth of the psychological workforce and the development of mental health services, particularly within the public sector. Aside from his full-time clinical role, Dr Berzengi remains actively engaged in academia and clinical research. He is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of East Anglia (UK), and he enjoys teaching and contributing to the professional development of Trainee Clinical Psychologists in the UK and in the Middle East.
